I need some insight....

I spent a lot of time searching for the right stuff that I could obtain locally, even if I had to order it but perhaps its a Covid issue, or perhaps just not much available for ducks here but the right protein mix and appropriate calcium seems to be tougher to find. IIRC the purina duck feed has 19% protein and came well recommended for consistent feeding. to all the flock. I am always shocked by how much my ducks eat, they don't seem to be overweight to me, and they certainly get plenty of opportunity to move around, their recreation areas are far away from their food areas so they can't just lay in one spot. I suppose it doesn't do much good to have nutritious food if they aren't eating it, how much are they consuming in a day do you think?

We have the same situation in our area, very difficult to find food specific to Ducks, with the higher protein. My ducks are out all day free ranging and mostly eat the food in the coop at night. They seem to eat a good amount, I also give them meal worms as a treat in the morning. I am trying to get this food issue worked out before my 5 teenager girls transition over from grower feed to layer feed. I will definitely dig deeper into finding them some higher protein feed.

I found the major suppliers like purina, nutrina, blue seal etc have retailers listed by area, sometimes it’s out of date information but it’s a place to start. The locally owned places are more apt to be willing to order in and or start stocking stuff for you. My local place which used to be an Agway started carrying the flock raiser

This is what I have been feeding all of my chickens/ducks. I think I need a separate food for the ducks though, seems they need more protein.

purina flock raiser or duck pellets would be best. also you can supplement daily with brewers yeast, mealworms, and veggie salad

I, too use Nutrena All-Flock and offer free choice calcium. Chickens, ducks and geese seem to do well on it..
