Yesterday my cat brought in 3 quail chicks. Unfortunately, one of them passed away just a moment ago. The other 2 seem very healthy but i just can't get them to eat. They look about 2 or 3 days old. I took a syringe and filled it with water and they seem to only drink water when I use that method. I also looked at tips to try and get them to eat but it won't work. I took chicken feed, crushed it to very fine pieces, put it in a shallow bowl but they won't touch it. Another thing I tried was to mix water with the chicken feed and hand feed it to them but again they won't eat it. I also took a hardboiled egg and crushed up the yolk and put that in their bowl along with the crushed chicken feed. I took a little bit of that mixture and spread in around their brooder so maybe they would peck at the ground and eat it but again they just won't budge. Any tips to get them to eat and drink on their own? Anything will help. Thanks!

These are wild quail? If so, they may not survive captivity. Do you have them under heat? 90 degrees? Dip beaks quick in a very shallow jelly lid filled with water. Put pea gravel in the lid too so they dont drown. Sprinkle CRUSHED chick starter around on the floor and tap with your fingers at it. Quail NEED to be shown how to eat and drink. They are very tiny so you will have to crush food for a week or so.

Hello everyone, I'm new and full of questions. I rescued 14 wild Gambel quail eggs. Got on YouTube and learned to build incubator about 10 days ago. I have 1 egg hatching but it didnt peck a circle in the eggshell it poked through and shell cracked down the side, it has not moved at all. Should I help it out of shell?
