ok i went home at lunch to check eggs...late and i just lost 6 frizzles monday...these are day 23.... went ahead and pipped myself because i just coudnt bear to lose anymore.. still air lg for hatcher they stayed in lg forced air for 18 days... okay to make long story short when i pipped the eggs they had thick white membrane...i wet it with warm water and could see the babies...what is causing this... this is hopw the frizzles were but i waited to long to pip them...wrapped in warm wet paper towel..now what do i do....

probably the best thing you could do now is run down to walmart and get yourself a good digital hygrometer/thermometer from the garden department and use it. Sounds like your incubator may have been running to cool for starters. No telling what the humidity was. If my eggs haven't even pipped by day 23, I would just toss them. I have tried to help hatch out enough chicks to know it generally ends badly and I have pretty much cured myself from doing it any more. Every now and then I will try on an egg that i REALLYREALLYREALLY wanted it to hatch. Almost never ends well still.... Sorry to be such a downer on your thread. My hatching luck completely turned around once I bought the hygrometer/thermometer and learned how to use it is all I can say... Good luck!
