What kind of knucklehead would keep any type of bird in a pen of 1.35 square feet per bird. The pheasant themselves are larger than that.

Obviously it's not an actual cage 1.35 square feet, since it's squared feet it's just referring to floor space, not cubed. I've actually seen a lot of other pheasant farms keep their pheasants crowded right before they harvest them either for meat or to sell them to clubs. It's very common. They put blinders on them usually and that stops the cannibalism and I think reduces the stress from crowding.
