But if the "dot" is not a pip, then what is it?

It just looks like a slightly discolored spot on the shell to me. Maybe a thin spot. Nothing I would worry about. There’s a chance it could be the beginning of a pip but if you don’t see any cracks around it it’s doubtful.

I see a small thin line ON it, but it could be a thin spot or discolored spot although I don't remember seeing it last time I candled.

I also tried candling the egg from outside of the incubator: I saw a shadow, and the air cell. It looks like the "dot" is in/on the air cell.

I know it really is very exciting, what you can do to encourage them, is just talking to them, so they already know your voice from the start.
But they will hatch when they are ready
