A hen from my coop hatched out 10 chicks in november. Once they alll hatched I moved her and her chicks up in a box in the upper building we have. There in a big box with a red heat lamp, water and feed.
Theyve been fine up until now when all the sudden its starts out there fine 1 day, the next day they start waddeling(sp?) back and forth when they walk, then the next day there legs are out in front of them, like in front of there head and theyre walking on there wings. there still very lively they just start acting like that, then the next day there dead. It cant be splayed legs because:
- there on 4 inch think bedding
-and there 3 months old and have been fine tilll now
what the hel* is going on?
They are such pretty little chicks and I dont want the other 4 to die.
Its onnly like a 3 day thing then they die.
PLEASE HELP!

Tell me about this upper building. Is it dark, damp, cold or warm?
Is the box tipped on it's side so they can move around freely or are they cooped up with mom with little space?
What are you feeding then? List everything including treats.
Do they get any sun at all?

I agree some more info on their living conditions would help. Are they still under a heat lamp? At that age they shouldn't need one....are they over-heating? Wings out stretched is a sign they're too hot.
