I need to sell off my flock, CT...Only 3 left!!

Hi gel...If you still have any birds left, I'm looking for about a 1/2 doz. layers. Don't worry about the well-being of your babies---I have a 3-1/2 year-old who I think would, let's say, frown upon me putting one in the pot.

I am in Colchester and am looking for a small flock since I recently inherited a single hen from a neighbor who died recently. The details are here:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2818097#p2818097

I have a draft-free coop and a large run, and when I'm at home they will free-range.

As you can tell from my post I'm new to this, but things seem to be going well with my single bird so far. Besides, for me, this would be ideal since I wouldn't have to deal with building a brooder and get day-old chicks, and trying to learn about all that on the fly too!

Thanks, and let me know,

Hi Jim.

I still have all my ten-month-olds left. The 2 black stars, 1 white rock, and 1 SL wyandotte should all be very good brown egg layers. And if you don't mind white eggs the red leghorn and buff minorca should do well too. That would make 6, and I'd give them to you for $30.

Of course you could choose whichever 6 you wanted, but I'm just suggesting which of the 9 I have I think would be best for egg production. The Silver Spangled Hamburgs are quite pretty, but they are a smaller bird and lay small white eggs.

They are still pretty young and won't be laying for another 2-3 months, but they are nice little birds.

Let me know if you are interested in them.

Thanks Michelle---I'll take the six you mentioned--the black stars, white rock, wyandette, the leghorn and the minorca. That's fine that they're not laying yet. When I said layers, I really meant I have no interest (or room) for broilers at this point. Just PM or email me what days are good for you and we can make arrangements.

It's too bad you have to part with them. Since I'm on this site now I can post pics from time to time, and you have full visitation rights if you're ever down this way--hope that makes things a little easier for you.
