I need turkey info and advice compared to chickens.

LOL I'd like to see her put that chain back on, too! I can't leave any unopen feed sacks in the barn and turn my back, because they will open them and help themselves, little boogers!

I learned about feed bags and turkeys, too! What gripes me about their ability to get the bags open is that *I* sometimes have trouble opening those bags! But yeah, that's why I started putting feed in galvanized garbage cans.

Yes, I know what you mean! DH sometimes tries to open them and they will be sewed wrong and he gets real aggravated and to make matters worse, sometimes I tease him and tell him to move to the side and let the turkeys help ! LOL

I grew up raising all sorts of birds and next to my parrots turkeys are the best. My husband actually gets jealous of the attention I give my turkeys.

Turkeys are so fun to raise. Everything everyone else said is so very true. I would very willingly trade all my sons chickens and replace them with turkeys if I could. I have four poults in the house right now that I kept from my last hatch as a life without baby turkeys is not a life I want to live. My midgets are by far the sweetest and noisiest turkeys I have ever raised. If you leave the door open too long they will sneak into the house to investigate. Harvey, one of our hens, knows right where the treats are kept and gets right into them. They also like to head down the hill to see what the chickens are doing. They have been known to take over the favored sunning areas over the winter and the shady areas over the summer.

LOL, thanks for posting! I'm considering between the Midgets, Bourbons, (and Palms, if they are not any less tame than the others) I'm NOT interested in meat, eggs or anything like that, it's just my hobby, really. And I want something that is known to usually be very tame, goes broody, forages well and I can sell to cover the costs in the hobby!!!
Thanks,

Looks like she might be deciding on the housing possibilities too. All she needs is a water source and she could be happy in there. Well until the food ran out that is.
