Hi all. My husband and I have raised chicks before but this is our first shot at turkey poults. We've got both chicks and poults right now but they are seperated from each other...in the same building, but not the same pens. Everybody is right around a month old and doing very well! My question is, is it safe to put our poults and broiler chicks in the same pen yet? We've got broiler chicks and layer chicks...their feed requirements are a little different but the broilers and the turkeys have pretty similar feed requirements. We don't have the space really to create another pen to get the broilers on their meat grower feed and were wondering if we could combine them with the poults and put them all on the grower feed with higher protein. I've read A TON of contrasting information on raising poults and chicks together, so if you have hands-on experience and first hand knowledge of this type of situation, I'd love some advice! Thanks!! **Edited to add: our home/property is new construction as is the coop we have everyone in. There has been no chickens, ducks, turkeys, etc, raised here before we bought it last fall. I'm not sure if that would prevent any chance of blackhead being present in the chicks.

It's a good idea to insure are birds are healthy. If you only have a little room it only makes sense to have them together. If you have the space and the means raising them separate insure your control on their health, more so.

I currently have a flock of 6 chickens 2 turkey's and 2 guineas. All flock together. All have free choice of game bird feed and chicken feed. They all free range (free ranger for life here) and they get along and are healthy. I will also have 25 meaties in the next couple of weeks that will be raised separately for 8 weeks.

Wish ya the best.
