Im not trying to trash talk anyone, so please lets not go there. I just want others opinions please.

For the people who buy and sell fertile hatching eggs. Do you have any set 'rules' you go buy? The reason I ask, is because I bought some fertile hatching eggs from someone and tonight is night 13. Ive candle on different days and out of 15/16 eggs(dont remember the exact # sent) I only have three left in the bator. And two of them Im almost 100% sure they are duds as well. Only one of them has something in it. No movement, but I can definitly tell it was fertile. But all the other ones, when I cracked them open, they werent fertile. They didnt have that tell tell 'bullseye.' Am I wrong to be a little upset/disappointed? I mean its one thing if for one reason or another they just didnt take. Such as poor bator conditions, or coming along and then dying somewhere in the middle. But I could clearly tell none of the ones I opened were fertile. I have other eggs(from someone else) that I set at the same time and all of those are doing great.

So basically Im asking, what would you do?

I just let the seller know that none developed... they wernt even fertile...
it wasnt your fault by bad hatching..they simply wernt fertile.
then..i'd see how they take it from there....
most times people on here people are good and will send more eggs if its a fertility issue.

I think far too many things can affect hatching eggs in transit that make it impossible to tell if they were or were not fertile. When I am shipping eggs I am constantly incubating eggs from the exact same hens to keep track of the fertility of my eggs so I know that they were fertile when they left my hands.

Yep this.

I would ask the seller if they know how to tell fertility to begin with. They may not know FOR SURE how to do it. I have had really good results and some really crappy ones too from shipped eggs, and it is NOT the seller's fault. The USPS owes me alot of money!!

Im not trying to point fingers at anyone. I was just curious what others thought. I emailed them yesterday, but havent heard anything yet. Ive had plenty of eggs ruined by the post office. Like I said, Im just a little disappointed that none of them were fertile. Well except the one..

I constantly check fertility and will not send eggs that aren't fresh..as in 4 days old max, occassionally 5 day old on extras, but rarely. If someone got my eggs like that, and they wouldn't mind you, but IF they got eggs that weren't fertile...I'd simply have to replace them. I'm the type that actually WOULD lose sleep over it though. I treat it like a business. If I can't take good enough care of my investment to prduce a quality product, then it is MY fault and MY place to make it right. And that's MY opinion on the matter

When I ordered eggs I took pics of them at steps through the process of opening them. Consider the length of time from being laid. Eggs must be collected and sent in a reasonable amount of time. 4 days must be given for shipping alone. So if the eggs are collected on Sun. they have to arrive by the next Sun. to be at the last reasonable day for fertility. Fertility decreases from day one. So they may have been fertile but died from waiting to long to get to the bator. Sellers must consider the time factor when sending eggs. They can't hold eggs even one day if they expect the buyer to get them in a reasonable hatchable time period. Of course someone is sure to disagree but that's life. Don't buy from sellers who hold eggs for shipping unless you are willing to accept the risk.

Mahonri- Im not sure if they did one right before mine were sent or not. I checked the old feedback system and as far as I could see, everyone gave them good feedback. So I think mine was just a fluke or something. Hopefully I will hear back from them soon.

Don't feel bad. The last 3x I have gotten shipped eggs, I have had the same problem. (different sellers too) The last batch I got were 8 eggs shipped, 3 non fertile, to barely started and now I have 3 eggs left. The tiem before that....5 eggs of one breed, which there should have been more but the birds weren't laying like they should, which happens. But she sent 4 other eggs of a different breed for replacements and not one was fertile.
