an EGG in its BEAK!!!!!!



I was out visiting the ducks/chickens and my duck hen comes waddling out of her nest house, and she HAD AN EGG IN HER BEAK!!!!


WHAT WAS SHE DOING?!?!?? Is she like a dog/cat, did she think it was in harms way???


So then, she accidently dropped it... and yup... EVERYONE started eating it.
WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!!!

oh maybe she was saying "here mommy, look what i did! fill your orders!!!", and then "oops! i dropped it, better make it disappear before mommy sees and gets mad!!"

I saw my old mutt duck do this once when she was sitting on a nest. Apparently, the egg was rotten. She ran over to her water tub with it and dropped it in. Then she washed out her bill--it must have tasted bad!

I have seen this. She may have been thinking of moving her eggs. Some ducks will start to set and then decide they don't like the spot they chose. But of course being a duck and clumsy she dropped it lol I bet she was mad.


If I drop a rock mine all come running to try and eat it lol.
