I have all the chickens I need. I only have 8. Now that they are in their second season I am glad that's all I have because I get 5 to 7 eggs daily. We have 5 people in our family. I do use a good deal of eggs. At least 2 or 3 of us have eggs in the morning 1 or 2 times a week. We do a breakfast dinner weekly (this week we did steak and eggs which was fantastic). Then I use more if I bake. I still give at least a dozen a week away.
Yesterday I went to the feed store and they had Black Australorp and some Sexlink chicks. So cute with their little wing feathers just coming in. Wow would I have loved to pick up a pair of Australorps just because they are pretty. But I know the coop is full so I have to pass chicken math. I don't want to build a bigger coop. Maybe in a couple years from now I will fail at chicken math. But for now I pass.
