I pick these up this morning :)

I picked these 2 peacocks and 1 peahen up this morning, The person needed to downsize so I had a days notice to get ready for them. I will put up better roosts in a couple of days. Why does the white one not have a crest on his head? And what should I worm them with and how much? Also all they have been fed is corn, should I switch them to a chick or gamebird feed? Thanks
Nice looking birds. The crest is like most said removed from other peas in the pen. I worm with SafeGuard liquid for goats. I mix it 3cc/ml per gallon of water for 3 days replacing each day with a fresh batch. Be sure it is the only water source they have so you know they drink it. I repeat it again 14 days later. At the end of the second 14 days I will then place 1cc/ml of Ivermectin pour on for cattle directly onto the skin at the base of the neck between the shoulders. That's how I myself worm my peas. Some do orally but then you need to catch the birds and have someone hold them so you can force feed them the wormer, I chose the easy route LOL

I worm 2 times a year once in spring before breeding season and then again in the fall after breeding season. I feed my birds a mix of whole corn and chicken layer pellets. I also give them canned mix veggies. I rinse them well be fore serving during the winter months. They seem to love the potatoes the best LOL. Seeing they were fed just corn you will have to slowly mix in the pellets a little at a time otherwise they will go to waste. Then give them less corn more pellets. Hope this helps and Congrats on your new trio! I hope you find a nice white or pied for the white male

Yoda, I've thought about doing the wormer in the water, but there is no way that I could put it in *all* of the drinking sources, some of which are very large and would require lots of expensive wormer. For me it's just easier to catch them and worm them one by one, but I only have 14, so I could see how it might be easier for people who have more, or have them in flight pens to do it in the water. FWIW, I have found that it's actually easier to do even the wildest ones by myself.
