Six of the Ameracaunas, three Black Giants (Jersey Giants?), three Rhode Island Reds, and three light or buff (can't remember which! lol) Brahmas.

I have already had one disaster! My light burned out, so I had to run buy a new one... and a spare! Whew!

Anyone care to describe happy chicks? I think mine are okay, they got a bit cool while I was gone, but once the heat lamp was on them they were up eating, drinking, and chirping.

typically if they are active, eating, drinking, and look comfortable, I think they are pretty happy.

Sounds like they are fine! Generally, they will be tired the first day (especially if they were shipped) and will sleep a lot. Then, watch out! They will busily mill about and cheep quietly if they are happy. And

Got 18 of my own coming from Meyer---they are somewhere in the mail between Ohio and here. And welcome!!

Ooops! I forgot my three red sex-links! I was so excited about my little chickies, I didn't realize 6+3+3+3 doesn't equal 18. What a dope!

Happy young chicks sleep a lot under a heat source. They also cheep quietly, not a loud distressing scream, quietly... They also interact with each other and explore. Sounds like your chicks are fine!
