I put bands on my chickens today, very interesting!

I snuck in the coop just after dark and caught each bird and put a spiral band on each right leg. This was the first time I ever handled most of my chickens and it was very interesting. I had a few really light weight birds and they were all huddled around the rooster. Perhaps they were seeking his protection? The rooster was by far the heaviest bird, I was almost afraid to grab him he is so big!

Just curious. Did u mean" really light weight" as they r not eating enough?

Well I had a couple that were sitting for about three weeks, I'm guessing they lost weight in the process.

Ok yeah that will do it. I also just broke 2 up and was very suprised how much one of mine when down while setting.
