I ran over a turtle with my lawn mower/tractor!!

Ok so I was mowing today with my Kobota and I looked over and I had just mowed right over a poor turtle. I got off the mower and went over to it, it was in its shell and had a small cut in its shell with a teeny bit of flesh showing and a little blood. I looked in the shell and its eyes were open. I put near a puddle of water in the grass and left it there. Im going to check on it tomorrow to see if its ok. But, in the mean time, is there anything I can do for it? If anyone has any suggestions I will go and see if its still there right now. If its not than that would be a good thing anyways. I feel so horrible for the poor little thing, he must have been terrified! Any help is always appreciated!!

aww...well, hopefully he'll be ok.

I did see on emergency vets once they have this sticky tape stuff that they put on a turtle that hardened like a shell to mend a peice of broken off shell.

You're story just reminded me of that.


I hope he's ok.

I have done similar and put Neosporin on it. My vet told me that was the right thing to do.

Don't beat yourself up, it was an accident.

The turtle must not have gotten the memo that it was "mowin day" !! Bless you for giving a hoot. I hope he is ok, let us know!
