Ughhhh it keeps leaking after I dried the whole thing! The stupid wire mesh wont stay down and the stupid styrofoam is so light, it likes to flip! It almost broke all of my eggs! I really despise hova bators! The genesis is the only DECENT incubator that GQF makes! I only like my brinsea!!!

Well technically GQF makes the sportsmans too, so the genesis isn't the only good one. But I agree, the Genesis is the only Styrofoam bator worth buying.

Ohh Im talking about the table top bators!!!!!!!!! I dont have a sportsman though. I sure hopes it better than that stupid styro foam junk! No offense to people who like hova bators. Im not saying they dont have good hatch rates but they are pretty dern cheap!

I like my old style hova-bator from before the rounded corners I got it used 8 years ago and just now needs a new thermostat, not bad for the money I think. But I still want the sportsman.

I third this.

My hovabator jumps temps from 89-108

With no touching no changing.

The wire is warped and makes the eggs roll to the middle. Water constantly leaks out of the bottom, It's huge and wastes space, I've burnt myself on it, it's too light and gets knocked over. It has never came clean. It's stained, and gets stinky and gross. ect

I get like a 5% or less hatch rate out of it.

My brinsea on the other hand hatches anything that is put into it. So easy to clean. I literately put the eggs in and forget about it. I add water if I remember maybe once a week or less. And sometimes I forget totally. It jsut rinses out, no scrubbing.

I also build a styrofoam bator. And it works great also. Way way better then hova bator. It holds solid, and hatches great. Not quite as good as my brinsea, but way better then the hova I paid for.

I'm about to stomp that thing.

So far, I'm getting great results from my Little Giant still air. I got just over 50% that are, as of this, time very much viable. And they are shipped eggs. I still have a week and a half to go before they hatch but they have made it through the 'critical' time. This is a loaner and so far I have probably spent more money towards this old thing than it's worth! (egg turner, extra wafer) After my hatches are done, I plan to buy myself one of the newer versions of the Little Giant.

Did you know that you can get a clear plastic bottom liner for most styro 'bators? That should prevent any leaking and makes it way easier to clean than trying to clean up the foam after a hatch. If you are having those wild temperature swings the first thing I would suggest is to make sure the wafer is tight on the adjusting screw. If it is loose it can really foul things up as far as maintaining a steady temp is concerned. If it is tight but still fluctuating try another wafer. They're only $10 or so. A small nail can be stuck into the foam where the wire floor won't stay down and cure that problem quite easily

For the wire edges one can use those plastic binder strips(like used in school to keep your papers in), just slide them over the edges of your wire and it should help keep things nice and flat.

The wafers they should be replaced once a year if you hatch and hatch lots, if buyng a used bator id replace it right from the start..if you have problems holding temps id replace it asap. because of all the expanding and contracting they do weaken and they become inconsistent

Im confused. My incubator says it is a genisis hovabator 1588. So a genisis is a hovabator. Right? Love mine. Just got 32 peeps of 42 eggs.

I looked at those Brinseas. $200 for a bator that holds 20 eggs? Way expensive. I could almost get 2 1588's for that price and use one as a hatcher.

What is with everyone's incubators tipping over? Are you leaving it in the middle of the kids play room or something?

Whats with the leaking? Do you not have the plastic trays for water that go under the screen?

Just wondering.
