I really need to know Gender...If they're roos, they're gone on Wed!!!

Hard for me to say too. Pictures could be better. What are the ages of these birds? Would like to see the entire bird. Usually if you have the green iridescent color in the tail thats a sure sign. Pointy saddle feathers is another. Those combs don't look all that big.

Maybe I missed it, but did you tell us how old they are? My birds look just like that, and are 12 weeks old.

The combs are red and pronounced on my birds. Mine have pointy saddle feathers, but the cape/ hackle feathers are just starting to be pointed and flowing. One of my roos doesn't have a tail to speak of, but has the pointy saddle feathers. It just looks like a rumpless anomaly. But still, a roo. If the tail feather are starting to curve, or sickle, that's another sign of a roo.

eta - a bunch of us are wondering the same thing. age?

hmm first 2 are roos and the 3rd one looks like my pullet Amaracauna but....the legs on that sucker make me want to say Roo!

Are these Ameraucanas or EEs? I have many EEs and they are difficult to tell the roos from the pullets (unless it's blatently obvious with pointy feathers/saddle feathers and what not). I wait until they crow. I try and steer clear of the red comb/wattle prediction. Without knowing their age, it makes it more difficult.

ok, I see this is still hard to tell... They are 9 weeks old now. I thought #3 was possibly a pullet also, just because I didn't see the "3 rows" on the comb. BUT its legs are really big, so... should I wait and keep them longer? Oh, and sorry, but what does pointy saddle feathers mean? Does anyone have a pic of an ameracauna roo that I can see, about same age?

By the way... The are NOT EE's, the are TRUE Ameracaunas maybe i should try to take better pics tomorrow. will you all come back to help?

Your coop is beautiful. I am on the managing board of a new community garden in Suwanee GA. We are in the process of picking our plans for our coop and loved yours. Do you happen to have plans for the coop that you could email me? We especially loved the childrens art work, what a wonderful idea. We plan on stealing the idea if that is ok

Here is my email address [email protected]. Here is the website for the garden if you are interested. www.suwanee.com under tab community garden and we also have a facebook page.

Thank you in advance for your help!!
