I rescued two ducks. What do I do now?

Only let them have access to swimming water when you can be there to supervise, until fully feathered out they can get water logged and drown. plus the water needs to be warm and then patted dry and put back under heat lamp to keep from chilling. Wonderful news about Petunias legs Pekins grow so fast I think that maybe one reason we hear more about leg problems in this breed. But glad you got on it fast. yes sad they were dumped but so thankful there was someone to take them in and give them a good home. Bless you.

Well this is another good thing to know. That is how I have been doing it, but I was thinking I was doing it wrong, they are ducks after all. Going to the library later today so I am going to see if I can pick up a couple of books to get a bit more info.

Thanks again! That link was wonderful.

Oh and while your out Pick up some dried meal worms the ducklings will love you for it.
FYI be sure to always offer grit when feeding anything other than starter.

I checked several places on the internet to find out what the sex of my ducks might be, and it seems the process for figuring that out when they're young can be a little tricky and complicated. I've opted to wait until they're older, but two things that I read that seem to be identifiers when they get a little older is that the females do a lot more loud quacking than the males, and the males have long tail feathers. I think mine are both female from the sound of them, and neither seems to have long tail feathers. The quacking started a little at a time when they were about a month old.

I am not sure. Seems to me they are about 6 weeks old, but the ones I do not really quack yet. One just started a new whistly sound over the last couple of days though, so maybe that is the start?
