I didn't mean to...but it just sat there and I was on a two lane road and there was traffic behind me and I was going up a hil and there was traffic coming the other way and there it was....

...just sitting there...a small speck...what was it....was it trash?...was it roadkill?

Nope, it was a baby robin and it just sat there and I runned it over. I even turned around to see what it was. I know...sick but I couldn't help it. Once I came up on it and saw it was a lil chick standing there...eee gads...almost made me vomit. I'm sooo sorry lil chick. Why didn't you fly away? Why were you just standing there?

I can't tell you what I saw when I turned around...I just can't.

I've been under a verbal threat for years now, that if I wreck a vehicle to avoid an animal in the road, I'm toast. Oh well, he doesn't know how many times, I've pulled over to help a turtle across the road putting my truck and me in danger.

Aww I'm sorry. My hubby ran over his first animal the other night, an opossum. He tried to avoid it and would have missed but the opossum darted. He feels bad too.

If the little robin didn't even try to fly away, there was probably something wrong. Still sad to run the little fellow (or lady) over but don't be too hard on yourself. I'm sure you would have stopped and tried your best to save it.

keep in mind... birds that don't fly away usually have something really wrong with them in the first place, be it sickness/ injuries...

It happens to all of us at one point. I almost took out a Joshua tree the other day trying to avoid a quail crossing the road that just stopped and stared at me!
