So i gave in.... after seeing a poultry graveyard at the feed store i go to, i had to take the 2 survivors home.... Poor babies...

I always get called when they are getting a shipment in. I was there as they were unpacking them. The heat was too much, out of an order of 400 misc. poultry, only about 20 survived. IF THAT!
I opened the box and saw the 2 staring at me.... so i held them.

That was it, i had to take them home. One of them acted like it had wry neck/ no balance/ and kinda seizuring...well... i gave it poly-vi-sol infant drops before i left to the movie store.... I EXPECTED that it wouldnt make it... I came home to a normal little gosling!!!! YYAAAYY!!!!

So here is a picture of the healthy one, I havent handled that other one much, so no picture of it so far. The pic was taken with a camera phone so bare with me here... i STILL wanted to tell their story and show 1 off

How beautiful! And it's great of you to do that for those poor little goslings... They are such precious creatures. I think my new embdens are runts. They're half the size of other embdens I've hatched.

Good luck with them. I wish both of them luck.

aaaaawwwww what a cutie pie. Thank you for having such a great big heart and taking them in. Why on earth are they shipping this time of year? That is ridiculous, in the SW of all places...good grief that is like shipping to Florida this time of year. idiots!

OMG, makes me want to cry, I can picture them looking up at you. That one was like it was I think because it was on it's last legs. If you hadn't taken them it wouldn't have made it through the night, poor babies. Thank you so much for having a good heart. Poor little babies, what a rotten life for them so far.

Thank you all! I feel so special to have saved them. Yeah what a bad month to be shipping. We are in Arizona, and they shipped from Privett hatchery.

I paid $7 each.

Is that a high price on geese?

Course, after looking in their eyes, i would have paid an ungodly amount for them. Bless their hearts....

they are soooooooooooo cute. I never knew, that a baby gosling would act just like a grown up Goose. It peeped normally at me, then it stretched its neck out and peeped like a big goose. ahhaaaaa. i fell in love. and i feel like they are fluffier than any chick or duck ive seen! not only that they are BRIGHT BRIGHT yellow. Who wouldnt fall in love?

In this Arizona heat, can you just imagine sitting in a closed box for hours and hours? Ugh.
You have the same ailment I have: Feedstoreanimalsticktomeitis. I thought I was the only one! I've learned never to take my kids in there.

Good job, Mom!

Unbelievable that hatcheries would ship this time of year, or that feed stores would order shipments!! Our feed store orders from the first of March through the first of April, and that's it. It is way too hot to be sending living things through the mail!

So glad that you saved them
