I saw on the news that chick sales were high and you can even rent chickens!

asdghkjl y'all are right, do NOT rent chickens. It is over expensive ($1200+ for the four hens and tiny coop+run I got), it's not great for eggs because the stress makes them take like a month to get laying, the hens I got at least were in terrible shape (clipped beaks, one missing a tail, etc) the people that were running it hardly replied to our emails, they were late, they gave us a chick feeder to use for adult chickens, we ordered 3 barred rocks, they gave us 3 RSLs that they called RIRs, and leghorn (free chicken tho!)....don't rent chickens. I suppose it has been good for my parents to see if I'd take care of them, and obviously I have, and will continue to, but otherwise we just have a coop and run that is hard to take care of (we had to order a prefab run to extend it and that has made maintenance infinitely easier) and over expensive chickens. If one of them dies you pay $75, which IMO is waaaay overpriced. I did not want to rent chickens, and do not recommend it to anyone. At least near me it's a pretty bad experience.
