Hi there! After having many questions of mine answered by posts on BYC I thought it was about time I joined.
I've always been referred to by my family as the crazy chicken lady thanks to a Hamburg cockerel that just loved to perch on my shoulder and any other limbs that he so desired. When it comes to poultry and other fowl we own Japanese bantams, Hamburgs, Brown Leghorns, a Rhode Island Red rooster, brown Chinese geese, guinea fowl and silver pheasants. Someday I'd love to get Lavender Ameraucanas and/or Blue Birchen Marans (before you ask, yes, I do have an obsession with blue chickens!). Our other livestock includes sheep (Border Cheviots and Texel crosses), a Nubian goat, beef cattle, pigs and an ornery old donkey that has a knack for letting the cows out an hour before they have to be at the auction.
I currently show my sheep in 4-H and was hoping to get into showing chickens as well but there are unfortunately no poultry clubs in my area.
Oh well, guess I'll have to figure it out for myself by watching some shows at the next fair!
