The Guinnea Keet Trot!

I clean out the keet brooder 2x a day, and when I do, I take the keets out, and place them on a towel in a corner. I put the brooder on one side, and my husband on the othee so they are 'blocked off' on all 4 sides. I then place them by the 2s on the towel.

BUT, EVERY TIME I clean, AT LEAST 6 excape through little holes behind the brooder or my husband. Of course he cant move or else the remaining dozen keets will pour into the living room like an unstopable wave. So as I clean, I have to stop, chase a couple 3 day old keets (TINY AND FAST!!!) around and put them back on the towel. I do this about 5 or 6 times during what SHOULD be a quick 5 min clean up. I would use the laundry basket except the little snots can condense themselves into microscopic balls and slide right through the small holes.

My husband thinks they really sent us mutated mice, not birds.

By the end, I am pouring in sweat and feel like I lost 5 lbs!!! I SOOOOOOO cant wait till they are in the big pen in the garage.

I use a small cardboard box with shavings in the bottom of it for a "holding box" while I clean their brooders. I have 5 brooders going at once, so I had to come up with an effective method

You don't have a bucket? Or an extra tote or cardboard box? Eventually they will become impossible to catch so you should try to work it out now so you don't have guineas roosting on your lamp shades

Funny thing is, I wouldnt doubt that happening! Mine are less then a week old and have flight feathers on their wings. Not flying (although they do try) yet, but they will soon!

I dont have an extra tote, they are in it now. They will be moved to the garage this week into their bigger brooder, THEN I will have an extra tote :).

I use a clear plastic tote with a hinged lid. It works well when packing chicks up and taking them out to "play" as well. Although maybe I will start doing it your way....I would't mind losing a few pounds.
