I'm so excited! I sold my first soaps today!

I've been making soap for years because of my skin and the crap that is found in commercial soaps. I've been bringing in a few bars here and there to a friend at work for his daughter who has really bad dry skin. This friend told a friend of his who told a friend....

Well, yesterday I got to work and a coworker asked me if I could bring him some soap. I said sure and how did he know about the soap. Thats when I found out that my friend has been talking....

I brought him three bars today. One bar was milk soap, the second was goat milk with sweet almond and honey and the third bar was what I call MaryJane

I'm sure you can guess by the name that it contains hemp oil. Anyway, when I delivered his soap he wrote me a check! I wasn't expecting that, I was gonna give him some. Then a girl at work heard us talking and she asked if she could by some. I told her yes and I'd bring it to her tomorrow.

She then went back to her department and two other girls came over to see if they could buy some.

So, for years I've made and used this stuff and because of a friend talking I've sold ALOT of soap today. I'm excited to see where this thing goes. Just wanted to share with everyone. Its been a GREAT day!

The only problem today has been that I wasn't expecting $ so I had no idea what to charge them so I settled very quickly on $3.00 a bar. Does that seem really high?

So I've been working on a website because I also do lampworking and wanted to start selling online. I sell locally here to a bead store and a tourist stop. I think now maybe I'm going to really get the website going and add a page for my soap. Woo Hoo! Life sure is sweet

Lampworking? Can you show us some pictures?

$3.00 for a bar of handmade soap could be a great deal, depending on the size of the bar. Most of the time I can only find it for around $5.00 a bar when I go to craft shows and such.

Thanks, yes money I wasn't expecting is a good thing! Now maybe if I sell a few here and there, hubby won't be so grumpy about all the room I take up with my "projects" as he calls it.

I would LOVE to show off some of my lampworking

I'm uploading them to photobucket right now and I'll post them in a minute.

Well, I didn't sell them for $5.00 but I'm happy with $3.00. They are 4.5 ounce bars. Be back in a min. with the photos

Okay chickngurl you asked for it LOL. I've posted both bead sets and some bracelets. I turn the bead sets into jewelry, key chains, ceiling fan pulls, etc. I mainly sell the sets to other beaders who turn them into BEAUTIFUL jewelry.

This bead set is called "Got Milk" The flat beads are supposed to be cookies, some people don't get it..... Not sure why, but okay

Lurky I know this is dumb but I don't know what a PM is and I don't have one I don't think. I checked the messages button and there isn't anything there.......

scroll to the top of the page and look under you name...it should say to have a message. if not, maybe it will come to you later....but keep looking under your name, where it says you are logged in.

Maybe BackYardChickens should sell a section of this forum to members that have crafts to sell, the forum could sustain itself off the "rent" and members could sell their goods --with 5000 members that could be a steady stream of business that perpetuates into ALOT more...if that isn't feasible, maybe a direct link to the etsy pages belonging to our members...something to think about...

Okay LOL now I know what a pm is! Silkiechicken sent me one and i got it. I don't have yours yet lurky so maybe it just takes time to get to me.
