So it's been a while since I last posted. My husband and I had sold our chickens and were getting ready to travel around the country for a while when coronavirus hit. Now I find myself scrambling to get going again. I started working with researchers and amazing people from all over the world in late January. As soon as I realized the situation I started building a social media presence, built a website, started writing articles and now a YouTube channel. I have the odd skill of being a rapid data miner. That was how I got recruited in the first place. There are almost 7000 posts on my twitter about the covid19 virus since Feb 11th. My job is taking all that data and turning it into useful information and predictions to help people. Everything from infection prevention to emergency preparation. Naturally when I realized the virus couldn't be contained I switched from just prevention into long term planning. THAT is where the chickens come back in! I am writing articles on hatching and making a video hatch along to help new crazy chicken keepers get started! I tell EVERYONE to come to backyard chickens because you guys are the absolute best! I hope you guys have fun with the videos and I will keep updating this thread as the hatch goes on. Here is the link to day 1 of my attempt to hatch shipped eggs from eBay! I couldn't get local eggs as everyone has their incubators going at full tilt.
The article on hatching eggs is https://www.trinitysurvivor.com/post/a-beginners-guide-to-hatching-chicken-eggs I hope this thread and the info I have learned from Backyardchickens can help other people get going!
