I take back everything I ever said about crows...

I have to admit, I used to hate crows. Mostly because they would strategically locate themselves just outside our bedroom window in the early summer mornings, and eminate that shrill, ugly "caw", waking me up far too abruptly.

I've changed my mind about them since I've gotten chickens. I like them a whole bunch now.

Bluejays, well, they sure waste a lot of birdseed and chase off other "pretty" birds, but they've got their place in the big scheme too.

I do have to say that we've never had crows even touch our gardens, at least not that I'm aware. That said, we don't plant corn (our soil is too sandy).

Peace out, y'all biscuitheads.

Ha, I like the crows about, I was just commenting on their other activities. They are just so dependable. I love to get a cup of coffee when its warm and watch them come and go. Someday I am going over the mtn and find where they all are roosting. I can hear them so it can't be to awfully far away. Jean

Crows are extremely intelligent. They, like blue jays, will warn other creatures in the area of predators and intruders. Wander around in the woods and see how long it takes for you to hear a jay or a crow announcing your presence to the local population.

I think crows and jays are awesome.

Last summer, before I had chickens, I would take a good book down to the pool to read for a bit and the crows would make a racket, no nap time for me! I wished the crows would leave...now they saved my chicks...like I said, I love crows & understand now their important job...they are the "town criers!" Keeping everyone safe

My Dad had a pet crow when he was in WW11, wish I could find the photo....Crows rule as the kids would say!
