I thin k I've finally had enough.

I feel you pain... every week I say "you just wait until Saturday Earl... Your a goner" and Saturday comes and he looks up @ me w/ that cock eyed smile...

It sound like a good opportunity to teach your children about making tough decisions. If you lie to them and they find out, they will lose their trust in you. Good luck with whatever you decide.

DO NOT DO THIS!!! If this rooster is aggressive as you say, he will only see the rackets as a challenge and every time he see's the girls with them he will think it's time to "DO BATTLE". Kinda like another rooster challenging him and his territory. He will not learn from it, his brain is the size of a pea! He will keep fighting and the girls could get hurt.

S.S.S. or get rid of him however you can. You should tell the new owner all about his aggressiveness up front. I agree with the others about not lying to your kids, however you are the adult and only you know how they will react and the best course of action. They need to know how the food chain works. Besides, I'm sure our parents made decisions and did things for our own good (when we were kids), and didn't bother to inform us of all the facts before hand. I've done it both ways depending on the situation and the age of the kids.

We made soup out of our roo, and my daughter was the only one who had a problem eating "Easter Egger" soup, as she called it..She's 5..It was a good experience for the kids. They helped Dad with it, everyone got plastic gloves on, and it turned into quite the family function...Tell them the truth, sometimes it's hard, but that's the life with owning animals. Humans are simply more important

I know there is a byc member who has tames roosters I will see if I can find his post maybe you could break the rooster of attacking the girls. I am in the process of working with my bantam rooster. I will see what I can find.

DON"T LIE TO YOUR KIDS!!! If they find out, they will have been taught that lying is OK. Next you can teach them to cheat and steal. Great parenting folks.

I forgot to mention that lady feathers has the right idea.

Oh give me a break ! Like you've never told a little white lie to your kids for their own good? Yea OK...........If you're a parent at some point or another you've had to stretch the truth alittle to your kid and you say you Never have, you're Lying

Sniff sniff....my parents lied to me.............. Santa.........Easter Bunny...........Tooth Fairy...........

I am scarred for life.

Human aggressive roosters will always be human aggressive and no amount of rehabilitation is going to change that. All the rehab does is make them sneaky about their attacks. Get rid of the bird. Your children need to accept the fact that if a bird is aggressive it must go. Period.

I am currently sporting a banged up leg from a "rehabilitated" roo. He jumped me the other day after not bothering me for 6 months. He went into the stew pot, but not before he scared the heck out of my daughter and beat me up. I should have done mine in sooner. And you should cull yours before someone gets hurt.

Good luck.

And as far as the rooster goes, Im not a good one to tell ya...I had a Mean little bantam roo that attacked me daily for years and every day I threatened his life and then one day he didn't come back at night and I looked all over for him, something must have gotten him and I actually Felt Bad

......but he was going after me and not my son, so you have a whole diff situation, but you can't have him attacking the kids and I don't think anyone else would want him like that....so I guess pen him up or give him away to someone and don't ask questions as to what they are gonna do with him....I personally could never kill any of mine, so the roosters Ive rehomed in the past, I just pretend in my mind that they are on a big farm Happy....
