Problem is.... If "Ken's" crow gets any louder, then "Ken" will have to go. Even though it doesn't specifically say anything about roosters, it does have a noise ordinance. And I have had the police come over a barking dog (at 8am not pm) and the fact that I do have chicken (but was in ordinance). Sigh. Oh well.

I live in the burbs, they are all MORONS here. It is also a little town/suburb where they have nothing to do. They cops could care less but they have to answer every call. And the Moronic suburbanites call about everything rediculous. When we first moved here, we didn't haven't have grass yet and were busy unpacking and the good ol' police came out because some of the weeds that we sprayed with herbacide the day before were too tall and we got a warning. We had two days to cut them down and it didn't matter if we had sprayed them.
I do hope he is a quite one and I can keep him.

Wow, welcome to the neighborhood, huh? Yep, dont even get me started on city people moving to the country and trying to change it into the city. Sometimes I'd like to leave where I am, which isn't terrible, although we have lots of those city folks who live here just 5 months out of the year, but I've just planted lots of Leyland Cypress trees and native rhododendron all around the perimeter in addition to fencing my perimeter and adding a gate across the driveway. The morons can play "Dimwits Unite" all they want, but they cant even see what I'm doing on my land. I sure feel for you. Hope it all works out.
Here's a devious plan. If you do have to get rid of your rooster, stash him somewhere at a friend's house, but first record his crowing and just play it at full volume from time to time. When the cops come to tell you to get rid of the rooster, your answer is "Rooster? What rooster? Officer, you can look around and you wont see any roosters here. Our neighbors are seriously nuts!". After a few times, eventually, the police will think your neighbors really are crazy and will ignore them. Then you can get your rooster back.

I love the plan! But I am offended that you think all city people are dimwitted - only the stupid half are!

I live in the city and I have only one neighbor that "complained" to my 14 year old that I am not allowed to have chickens and this ain't no "darn" farm. At the time I didn't have any roos crowing and the chicks stay in my backyard - so I don't know what her problem is besides she is an old gossip. To bad I read the ordinances first and am in total compliance. Some people need to take care of their own lives first.

Oh, I dont think all city people are dimwitted-Just the ones who want to pave everything in the country to keep their Caddies from getting scratched, LOL. I grew up in the city myself, a suburb of Atlanta the Terrible. And I dont live anywhere near a big city now because I dont want to put up with most of the types who live there.

And about the ordinances, someone I know had permission in the covenants and restrictions to have and breed poultry for her family's use. I read the ordinance. There was also a conflicting ordinance against nuisance noises. Now, to breed, you need a rooster. Roosters crow and you cant stop them from crowing. So, the person who kept reporting the rooster crowing got his own way, in spite of the fact that my friend was in compliance. So, dont think you're necessarily safe, even if you are within the law with your birds. Some busybody who wants silence in the country can mess up your nice life with chickens.

Definitely a Ken, and a gorgeous Cukoo Marans roo from what I can tell. If they are that stringent about being a pain in the butt you might want to start looking for a new home for him. I hate seeing people getting in trouble over silly things like that.
