I did it maybe 3 weeks ago. I know for sure I got both testies in because I double and triple checked before I let the bander go..
He was older when I did it because I wasnt sure if I was going to sell him or not.

Well they are dried up and flat BUT I checked it today and there is dried puss looking stuff. I moved it from side to side and you can see pink (the under skin) and a creamy puss.
Ive had a goat that was banded before but I never checked to see how his was doing, they were just gone one day.

I dont know if I put the band up too far or if this is normal or what!
I tried rolling it down as far as it would go but... I dont know if it rolled back up?
Anyone experience this?

That's fairly normal
You can spray it with a disinfectant (Iodine, Peroxide, etc...) and it should be fine.

It can take over a month for them to drop off.

If it looks really bad, give him a shot of Penicillin

Its not horrible.. and I got a spray bottle at the $1 store and have been spraying it.
As long as its normal

I know it can take a long time for them to fall off. He was not tiny

It will leak fluid/puss for a while as it heals. If it starts to have a smell like it's infected, you'll need to clean the area with betadine. It will sting like the dickens but it will help the wound dry up.

If you aren't easily grossed out, you can take a swipe of the fluid on your finger and bring it to you nose.

OR... you can lean over and sniff. Make sure we get a picture of you sniffing a goat's behind.

SarahFair, the last one we did was a bit older than we normally band, and it took forever before he lost the ummm.... you know!
I did give him one shot just to be sure, but all was well that ended well!
And yes I forgot all about the high winds myself!!!!!
