I think I bought OLD japanese quails :(

So everyone, he's had the quail for a month now. We have to assume feeding good feed, giving oyster shell, adding light to get them 14-16 hours of light and after a month they should have settled in.

How long should he give them a chance to lay? I'm guessing another 2-4 weeks, provided the above. Are you sure these are females? Which variety (what color, what size) of j. Coturnix did you get? And Ya, I have what, 12 week old Jumbo Browns and M. Golds that eggs don't fit in the little quail turn table holder. Well I got to use them twice. edited so I could get JJMR's on one page. Yes I am serious. Hope it works

A Little Thought Here....

You Have Purchased Birds And Moved Them, You Have Broken Quail Law Repeatedly...

Coturnix Are The Lovers Of Sameness.... Any Changes In That Sameness Is The Highest Infraction--- Premeditated Forfieture Of Quail Law! Now You Have Commited This Crime In The Quail World Against These Poor Inocent, Defenseless Little Birds (

---- Just Humor Me And Keep Reading The Moral Is In The Story...) And You Have Been Caught In The Act--- This Type Of Quail Felony Carries The Max Sentance They Can Enforce Upon You.

Quail Law Is Easy--- "change My Feed? Bad Keeper! No Eggs For You!"
" Change My Pen/ Cage? Bad Keeper! No Eggs For You!"
"change My Pen/ Roommates? Bad Keeper! No Eggs For You!"

Thats 3 Counts Right There, And We Havent Even Touched On Light And General Surroundings..... This Whole Egg Thing? Yeah Aint Lookin Good For You Until You Have Served Your Sentantce

1. Coturnix Start Laying At Maturity And Stop At Death
2. Yes Eggs Get Bigger As Hen Matures
3. You Did The Crime, Now You Have To Do The Time

Get Them Settled And Change Nothing From That Point On. Pick The Feed That Is Always Readily Available To You, Set The Pen/ Cage Where You Want It, Get The Lights Timed And On, And Let Them Be..... Once Your Sentance Is Up You'll Know. Its Easy To Tell As There Will Be Lil Speckled Eggs In The Cage

Oh Yeah, Almost Forgot, Sometimes They Get Stage Fright Too--- So If You're Pacing Back And Forth Outside The Pen Eagerly Awaiting Eggs? --- They'll Make You Wait Longer

Too true. I have coturnix quail that I used to catch and put up every night. After making sure that the pen would be secure enough to leave them out at night, I stopped putting them up. As much as they protested being picked up, the change in routine was enough to make all but one of them stop laying for a good two weeks.

JJMR that is to funny

I am going to print it out and frame it.

You been hitting that bourbon bottle a little early?

Did you enjoy some of those good bourbon birds for dinner? (I have yet to try that, or soaking them in Jalapeno Wine before cookin).

Oh I need to hatch some more birds.
