I'll add my recommendation for the Buff Orpingtons. I have 2 in my flock, and so far they've been reliable layers of brown eggs. They did slack off a bit in the winter, but many breeds do that. I also have a black Ameraucana (or EE - not entirely certain) who also lays a green egg just about every day.
