I think I found a truffle, can anyone verify??

I live in central Alabama. I think I found a truffle! Can anyone verify? My son picked it up off the ground in the woods (mostly oak, some pine and cedar)

its smell should give it away if it actually is. Apparently I've heard it likened to a old, smelly sock kinda vibe.
