So if anyone has noticed, I've been having some problems with my white cochin 7 wk olds. 3 of them have miraculously 'recovered' (bloody stool, vet said cocci) and are eating and drinking (when I checked 3 of my 5 had full crops). The 2 that didn't were brought in, and offered food. They immediately began to eat, but within a few minutes I noticed they were having problems swallowing. I checked, and sure enough there was a wad of food stuck in their gullets. I got my tweezers and pulled it out, and gave them some food mixed with water, which they're eating fine. They are also drinking. The question is what would have caused the food to become lodged like it was??? Could it be dehydration, so that they don't have enough fluids to lube the food down their throats??? It's not gapeworm, already checked out the resources on that.
