I think I have a broody!

@aart are these babies feathered enough for mom to leave?

Maybe, how old are they?
Do they have head feathers?
Is she weaning them or .....?
no shes just stupid. she has decided that she is going to roost even though there isnt space of all of them with her. maybe thats why we had flat 2x4. I'll probably take her down again tonight and put them in a milk crate

I will have to investigate head feathers. they're the ones born from this thread which I think means 6 weeks but id have to check.
I suspect the answer is no, especially since it wouldnt be all 5 of them together, just the one.

That could just be weaning behavior.
So you have lower roosts?
all the babies can get up on the roost, but the 5th one falls when trying to get closer to mom because theres no room. she puts her wing over two on each side and the 5th one is just left to be cold and, last night anyway, bailed and went to hide where they had been nesting which is more sheltered. I'm actually considering just adding a little platform where mom is. she can cover all 5 when shes flat on the ground.

this one showed the most development and was the only one like this

welp, my broody is gone
whatever took her was kind enough to leave the eggs alone
so other than 3 rolled about 8 inches away, the nest looked normal
I've fired up the incubator but it was chilly last night so we will see what happens
