Thanks to everyone out there for all the excellent information on handling roosters. Because of all the knowledgeable people at BYC who are willing to share their wisdom, we have been doing things a lot differently and Ramses the Great has been behaving for over a week now. He allows handling and doesn't flap and kick wildly anymore. He keeps his distance when I'm in the run. I don't try to feed him treats anymore and he doesn't act like he wants any. It's easy to remember that he's not a "pet" because he doesn't act like one. His crowing is so pleasant too, he crows for a little while in the morning and again late afternoon. I think he'll be sticking around!

Glad it's working out for you. Roosters can be a pain at times....Thor's current name is boogerhead, but he's worth his weight in gold to me.
