Bantams I find are easier to identify than standards.
I know standard ones are usually labeled but not always.
Let’s say the chick is all red. If standard it could be anything..new hampshire red, Rhode Island red, production red, red sexlink, rhodebar. They all are single combed, clean legged birds with a few distinguishing features. Some white and black birds are like that too.
Bantams can be organized easier...the only red ones sold by hatcheries are pretty much white laced red Cornish, red Cochin, red old English. Cornish have pea combs...Cochins have feathered feet..old English are small, birdlike with single combs and clean legs.
Sometimes you will get Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire but they are less common than their standard counterparts and RIR are redder.
