That is what I'm thinking too. I read somewhere that sometimes a speckled Sussex can have a kind of strawberry comb, so at first I thought maybe that was what was happening. Since none of the others have such a big comb and have no wattles yet I figured it was a roo. He is also the only one of them that has a greenish hue to his feathers at the bottom of his back close to the tail feathers.I'd have to say your one is a cockerel and the other three look like pullets.
As I'm sure you know by now, they all have single combs. And even the hens will get that greenish color in the sun on their darker feathers. That is what I'm thinking too. Thank you. When I tried to put the group of 4 that are 2 weeks younger in with the older 4 he was a little rough so I ended up taking them back out for a little longer. When I try again I may need to remove him for a day or 2 and let the girls get their stuff sorted then put him back. Since I'm new to this I am not sure if that would help but from what I've researched perhaps it will. I know they need to work out their pecking order and that I'm probably just being a bit over protective. He is sooooo cute!![]()

Yeah. I'm still very new to chickens so I've been researching a LOT. Lol. I had no idea there were so many beautiful chickens! And I never thought I'd call a chicken beautiful but they really are!As I'm sure you know by now, they all have single combs.
