I think i have a rooster!!!

Keep in mind though that you wouldn't want to hatch any eggs from the hens if they are out of the same clutch (bro/sis). He also may not remain your fav as roosters personalities usually change as the flock becomes "theirs".

It depends on the health of the birds. Many breeders use line breeding, as long as the birds are genetically healthy. The first or even second generation from an inbred/line bred pair likely will not have any problems. In addition, these birds would most likely be half-siblings if they are related at all, especially if from a hatchery. There should be enough genetic diversity to prevent problems in this situation.

Yes, their personality may (probably will) change. It's kind of a gamble, but that's part of chicken owning. I love being able to hatch my own chicks, and I love the fact that my rooster has saved the lives of my hens more than once. My rooster may not be my best friend, but my flock would not be the same without him!
