I think I may have a polish packing peanut.

Quote:
Polish:
4 toes per foot
white earlobes
small or v comb

Houdan
5 toes per foot
red (i believe) earlobes
larger v comb or butterfly comb in places other then the US

I posted this a few days ago on another thread. Pros and cons of Polish fowl with other birds. This is what I've seen from my few crested chickens co-existing with the others.

*****Bad things...

-She can't see too well, and has gotten herself into tons of trouble over the past year. (Got caught in the neighbor's dog fence, had to go rescue her before she became someone's personal chew-toy!)

-She get's spooked when someone steps in front of her

-She's too smart for her own good. She's learned more about what makes me tick than most people do! She'll follow me home until I come back to give her more treats.

-Her crest freezes REALLY badly in the winter. I'm talking, crest-feathering turning to icicles.

-Others peck at her crest from time to time. Nothing major, though.

-The crest can get her overheated in extreme temps. When summer comes on by, I have to spray her whole head with ice-water. She hates it!

-I HEAR roos are aggressive. Not sure if that's true or not.

-Poor layer, obviously.

*****Good things! (Because I have to add them!)

-She's so funny! Everything about her is just amazing. I wouldn't have wanted any other!

-She actually free-ranges pretty well.

-No predator attacks yet. She's very alert and listens to the roos' warnings.

-Not a picky eater. She'll go for anything that moves. =/

-Totally addicting! The attitudes are just amazing on those little guys! (Or girls!)

-We hatched her chicks last spring. Her daughter is so sweet. Her son, not so much, but he probably takes over that 'mean roo' trait I hear so much about. And his dad was a demon.

-I want her to live for as long as possible and plan never to hurt her. When she stops laying, she'll be the retired old lady that makes my day-every day.

Haha, good luck! They're a fun breed, and almost everything on this list applies to both sexes.
