I don't know for sure but I think I'm developing a severe chicken addition/psychosis.....I hatched my first batch ever 2 1/2 weeks ago or so. I have 4 Black Sumatras a 2 Seramas. One Serama I had to help hatch and she had a hard first week. Very weak, splayed legs the whole 9 yards. I learned about the Bandaid trick from you fine folks and she seems to be improving. She is a slick little sucker tho' and gets loose frequently. I put silk medical tape over the band aid tonite. (She hates the hobble by the way but it's for her own good-right?) Anyway she had a brother hatch with her who is doing just fine. I assume he's a roo because he is already getting long tail feathers, strutting around and grooming himself,etc...Very manly.
Well anyway to get to the point-my teenage children have informed me I 'have issues'.

I made a bed for my little Seramas, just a cut up sweater sleeve that I formed into a little nest for them-which they adore and snuggle down in every nite. I clean their little 5 gallon fish tank house every day and started giving them occaisional treats of dry bread crumbs (very little). I talk them to them, watch them all the time thru the tank, hold them and let them sleep in my hands,etc....I talk about all the smart things they do. ... AND to top it all off.I got a second incubator and am hatching more! I started a staggered hatch before these guys even hatched out and have my first one in my second hatch pipping tonight!!!!

I'm on my son's laptop tonight-just got back from the ER with torn ligaments in my ankle and a harline fracture (apparently gravity and I are starting to have issues). So no pics downloaded in here. BUT I promise some tomorrow!
I LOVE my widdle babies!

We're just a bunch of "weirdos"...at least that's what my co-workers tell me. They are sick and tired of my talking about my chickens. They think I'm odd.

But hey...if we're happy with our chickens, then isn't that all that matters? Happiness?
