thanks! i just sold him. the person said that their mother has wanted a Svart Hona forever and will be happy to welcome Pine to his new ladies. i have never seen the rest of my flock so quiet, harmonious, and happy.
Nice, isn't it? I just put all 10 of my cockerels in a grow-out pen last night. It was so QUIET outside today! No squabbles and offended squawks from the older girls as the cockerels try to mate with them, no pullets trying to escape the attentions of an amorous cockerel, and no crowing contests between the boys! (Although, I do love to hear them crow.) I'm super glad you found a home for your rooster.
me too! i recently saw Pine's brother, (who i am keeping) called Night, trying to mount my legbar hen. (Brownie.) brownie put up a strong fight not to mate with him. he seemed angry after. they are only 4 months though. i thought the roos wouldn't try and mate for another month! none of my hens have started laying eggs yet, but brownie has started laying down by herself in quiet places....does that mean i will have an egg early?
