My girls are spoiled rotten, too. They do eat their feed, but of course they prefer treats. I give them the ends of my home-made whole wheat bread (which is very nutritious, actually) twice a week, BOSS and scratch daily (more BOSS than scratch), yogurt, greens, and a mash made of warm water, their feed and mixed nuts. The mash is mostly to fatten up a crossbeak girl I have. The scratch & BOSS mix keeps them entertained all day and the bread is just to entertain me. I think balancing their treats is important, so if you give them candy (scratch, bread) just give them a bit and balance it with some higher protein snacks. Greens are important, and if they are getting too many you will see it in their poo. Yogurt I consider as good for them as their feed, so I don't worry about them eating too much of it. Again, I think a lot of it is about balance, but I am by no means an expert.
Writer, that is hilarious! I get how the FedEx guy could be a little intimidated by a gaggle of ducks surrounding him and squawking. Poor guy already has to worry about dogs, and now wild rampaging ducks too!
