I have banties from TSC also. I got 6 and I think that 3 are roos. They are only 6 weeks old. I know that our TSC gets their banties from Mt Healthy. I looked up their website to figure out what breeds I had picked, but they do not list their bantam breeds separately. You can only buy them as assorted. Since you are in Ohio also, your banties may have come from there too.
It seems to me that everyone who gets their flocks from TSC or other feed store etc operations ends up with 50% roos. I know most places say they order females, but I don't believe it. The employees usually don't know anything about breeds.
I think your best bet is to order from a breeder. That way you don't have to order 25 plus of them. I know they are sooo cute & fluffy when they are tiny....but they are so hard to sex at that age unless they are sex linked. I buy mine at about 4-6 weeks from a breeder, by then you can usually see the sex linked characteristics starting to show. They are still very cute at that age.
Go in on an order with a buddy off of this board, someone who lives close & will split the order with you.
If I ever ordered on my own, I would just order sex links & ask them NOT to include the "freebie/extra" chick because those always seem to be roos too!
Just my 2 cents worth. I know how tough it is to get rid of roos....I just got rid of mine a couple of weeks ago.
