I think I'm hooked?

I am peppering my back yard with a variety of smaller coops, because I can't build anything larger than 4x8 without a permit, and I already built a 4x8 coop... The "grow-out" coops are all semi-permanently housing the "chicks" I put into them for integration purposes.

So much for "one place to go gather eggs!" At least I have smaller groups of chickens to say good-night to, individually, instead of a whole slew of 8 or 10 or 12 of 'em.

we got chicks this past april, started with ten RIR's, and 2 comets. then bought some dominiques and an aracauna from a farm up the road. my hens started laying in september, ten hens total, out of the bunch we bought. i was given twelve other chickens a few weeks ago, they are older, consisting of buff brahmas, silver laced wyandottes, a bantam of unknown variety, and some cochins. These aren't laying, they were molting when i got them, i think there are 8 hens in that lot. i can't wait til they resume laying. my ten original hens have layed 83 eggs since october 1st. i am building an incubator right now. i plan to set eggs this thursday, that should give me around 30 to try in the bator. cool. this chicken thing is addicting. we had them when i was a kid, i am 39 now, my lady has a separate bantam coop in the front yard which i built her. we got 6 oeg's at an auction about a month ago. all i can say is chickens, eggs, chickens, eggs, chickens, eggs, chickens, eggs, chickens, and more eggs (whichever comes first)!!!!!!!
