I recently joined here. After learning so much from BYC members, i got a coop, run, feeder, waterer, 8 girls (2 laying, 6 pullets) and a roo. All for $45. I installed everything, including netting (also free) over the entire run. Three nights ago, I brought all the birds home and this morning I got two eggs.. both blue but one lighter. Tonight, I got another egg, still warm and whiter.
I want to incubate now...so where/how do I start? 20180909_121412.jpg 20180909_121412.jpg 20180909_094729.jpg

:welcome Those are beautiful blue eggs!!! Be warned: Hatching is SUPER addictive and we are all enablers...Following the threads in the incubating/hatching thread is my favorite! You learn so much just reading about the experiences others have. Do lots of research! There is tons of info on BYC about incubating, hatching, and raising chicks! Lots of articles/posts about different incubators, hatching methods, etc. This is one of my favorite articles to get you started: https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/development-of-a-chicken-embryo-day-by-day.72537/

Thank you, that's awesome.

If your pullets are just now laying, you might want to wait a little bit before trying to incubate them. Pullet eggs are not the best for incubating so maybe wait a couple of months. Also, if you are wanting to use one of your hens to incubate and hatch the eggs, you will have to wait for one to go broody.
