I like that plan (the setting the traps at night). I think my husband and I have work to do this weekend.

I know rats carry all kinds of crap. My dogs which have never had problems with fleas before were infested with them last year. I couldn't get rid of them! Finally broke down and had an exterminator come and treat the house too which did the trick.

We also put out poison inside black trap boxes, these went untouched by the rats but my hens managed to find the poison inside and went to work extracting it. Thankfully, they are all ok.

We had producers come to our house last year to film our troubles. They were filming a show about people and businesses having trouble with rats in the five boroughs of NY. They set out all kinds of traps but never caught one! The show should have aired by now, but I think they may have changed the show to be all kinds of pests, not just rats. I'll be glad if it never airs as they always seem to make people look really stupid on those shows. So much drama. The guy was very happy when he caught me on camera crying over the loss of a recent hen. But I felt really silly and tried hard not to cry.
