Hi everyone. Today I went out to check on my chickens and I realized some highly raised scales on their legs. I am pretty sure this is scaly leg mites. I have read online that Vaseline will smother the mites but I need to get my chickens healed ASAP! The birds are feather legged, I think this might be a cause, but any help or advice would be awesome! Thank you.

Welcome to BYC.
Vaseline will work to smother them just apply it daily for a week.
Or spray the leg daily with something like this:

It take a while for the legs to heal after the mites have been killed.

Can you post some photos?

Vaseline rubbed into and underneath the scales will smother the mites, you would want to do this a couple of times a week until the legs are healed.
Other options would be to use coconut oil, castor oil or a cream like Nu-Stock.

Thank you. I have been using the Vaseline twice a day and their legs seem to be getting smoother already. I have some coconut oil that I'll use. Pictures will be posted asap:D

Had some many years ago. Went through all the vaseline, mineral oil with tea tree oil, Nu-stock, etc. cures. Messy and ineffective.
I then got injectable Ivermectin and put some in an old B-12 bottle with an eye dropper. Every 6 or 8 weeks, I put a drop on the bare skin in each bird's armpit. Give one drop for each pound the bird weighs.
Problem solved.
It also kills just about any type of internal worm.

Bottle contains approximately 1000 drops.
I keep refrigerated.

What egg withdrawal do you observe?
Do you sell eggs to the general public?
