I think my duckling may be blind in one eye

I have a 4 week old white crested duckling who seems to be blind in one eye and the eye she uses to see is partly covered by her crest. I have been researching online but cant find out a whole lot so anyone with exp. that would like to share please feel free + i would love to ask ?s .......Thanks

When checking for blindness you will want to hold your hand parallel to the floor and move it toward the eye to see if it blinks. If you move with the palm of your hand forward the duck may react to the movement of air rather than a visual stimulus.

Awwww! Very Veronica Lake! (See pic)

Looks like a very big, sideways crest. Probably a birth defect that has involved the eyes. I hope she'll be ok.

Do you think that when she gets fully feathered the crest will be out of her eye because the eye that is covered is the eye she uses to see. the one that is not covered i pretty sure she cant see or has limited vision.

thank you for the reply i used my hand like you said she did blink but i can come at her from that side and she really doesn't seem to see me comming

You may need to trim some of the feathers to uncover the eye.

We did shave of some of it and it helped a little how ever the crest formed more on the side instead of on top and back.
