I have another post on my frizzle hen. I fed her by hand last night mostly chicken feed made into a mash. Today she did poop, which she hadn't been doing and it looks normal . She looks like she is going to die though, won"t drink or get up , just laying there. I don't know what else to do. can any one give me some more suggestions. Thanks donna

Is she pale, breathing heavily or just sitting and not eating? do you have her separated from the other birds? I'm probably repeating questions, but I couldn't seem to find the other post.

Just wanted to let you know my little hen died last night. I can't figure what was the problem. No heavy breathing normal poop. Either in a bad molt or the rooster was the problem for the feather loss especially on the back. Had a skunk in that ate the eggs she was sitting on, found no injuries. She was a little pale . Just went off her feed . I got a little worried the skunk could have had rabies and passed it to her. but called the poultry agriculture number and he said it was highly unlikey . I was worried as I have been sticking my finger in her mouth to feed her. Said it also would not be bird flu as the head gets purplish. So I am baffled and upset that I did not do anything that seemed to help. I want to thank all who replied to my questions. This is a great site and I hve used it many times before. Again thanks donna

I'm really sorry for the loss of your hen. It sounds like you did all you could for her. Just wanted to let you know birds can't get rabies, only mammals can. So no worries about having your fingers in her mouth before she passed. (((Hugs)))
